"The Church and Politics"
Many Christians today want to "keep politics out of the church" ... and the church out of politics! Indeed, there is a separation between the two because they have different roles in God's plans for the world and for human society. There is, however, an "overlap" for Christians, for those who are disciples of Jesus Christ and ambassadors of His kingdom as we live in this world. While the role of the Church is to preach and teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, calling sinners to repent, believe and be saved, the role of the government is to restrain evil in this world by punishing those who do wrong. Christians are certainly called to speak truth to government and to seek to influence those who rule to enact righteous laws, yet the Church must not lose sight of the Great Commission by focusing more on transforming culture than proclaiming the Gospel!
